We have a PhD opening in the Public Administration and Policy Group @WUR in Wageningen focusing on transformation, governance and nature-based solutions (NBS). You will be supervised by myself, Nicolas Jager and Dave Huitema.
As droughts intensify and water systems face growing stress, nature-based solutions offer an alternative to traditional infrastructure, developing ecosystems while supporting climate resilience. Governance lock-ins, institutional inertia, and local complexities make NBS implementation and scaling difficult.
As part of the EU HORIZON WATERGRID project, we're looking for a PhD researcher to explore how NBS can be adopted and sustained across Europe. Your research will explore the social, political, and institutional dynamics that shape NBS across EU country contexts, and help find more inclusive ways forward.
We seek candidates with a strong social science background, expertise in quantitative and qualitative methods, experience in fieldwork abroad and a Master’s in a relevant field. Strong research skills and fluency in English (CEFR C2 level) are essential.
See the link in the comments for information about the role and how to apply. Reach out to myself kirsty.holstead@wur.nl or Nicolas nicolas.jager@wur.nl with questions.
Note - since posting this ad I have had many CVs sent to my inbox. We only accept applications through the WUR website or Academic Transfer. Thank you!
